I was just talking to Chip about the value of a local ride board. With gas prices ever rising (and environmental consciousness too!), doesn't it make sense to cut down on the solo trips? Chip's exploring options for a physical rideboard, but I was reminded that this was one of my goals for this site. So I've made some tweaks to encourage it.
You'll see below that the "Forums" section has been replaced by "Ride Board." Likewise in the list of categories at the top of the screen. So if you need o… Continue

Billy Waldo and the Flying Grizzlies will be re-forming to play a benefit concert for the Stano Bustos Foundation on July 26 at the golf course. The gig will be a part of the Foundation's golf tournament, the proceeds of which will be used to, among other things, fund junior ski racing on Red Lodge Mountain.
I played with the Grizzlies back in the early nineties, and I look forward to making music with some people I haven't seen in a long time. Waldo is coming over from Bellingham, WA; Peter Bu… Continue
You may have noticed the new calendar here -- Planet Red Lodge now supports events! When you create an event, it shows up here for everyone to see, and you can also create and automatically send invitations. I'm just trying it out myself (that's a genuine event June 19; I hope to see you all there!), but I hope it will be of use whether you're having a community meeting, party, or fundraiser. As always, let me know if you're ever having trouble with the system. -John Continue

Hey Planeteers-
Just an update about what's happening on this site...
Did you know that the "Gnome group" has been posting clues here? This club plays hide-and-seek with a gnome: somebody hides it, and gives clues to a wider community as to where it is. Some of the photos Kris posted a week or two ago were of the gnome. (She'd emailed clues to the group about where to go online to find it -- something about "the astrologer Clayton" -- and I gather a few people who didn't know about the Planet s… Continue

I love the way one thing leads to another. So where have I been led lately? To some new music, one of my favorite things. Now don't get me wrong - the old music is great, but after hearing the same songs for the past 30-35 years or so, I'm in the mood for some new stuff. And boy, is there ever good new stuff out there. For example, I was listening to Deep Tracks on satellite a week or so ago and found out there's a new Robin Trower (English rock guitarist, Procol Harum) and Jack Bruce (the voice… Continue

Oh, am I ever liking Widespread Panic. They remind me a little of Rusted Root, but I like them much, much more. It's nice to find a "new" band that has some albums (I still use that word, so you know I'm of the "older generation") on yourmusic.com. I've found that they (yourmusic.com) don't have a lot of the albums that I want, but I've found enough stuff on the site over the past year that I haven't quit the club yet. So, those are a couple of recommendations for today - Widespread Panic and yo… Continue

What a neat place! I'm a myspace addict, so creating new pages and network groups, etc. is kind of a hobby. And this site being full of Red Lodge folks, it's perfect for getting word out on Red Lodge's otherwise unadvertised events.
Well I'll be adding more crap to my site here later today. Right now, I actually have to get stuff done at work.
